Protea – noun

is a genus of flowering plants, sometimes called sugarbushes. The genus Protea was named after the Greek god Proteus, who could change his form at will, because proteas have such different forms.

Protean –adjective readily assuming different forms or characters; extremely variable.

I come from the scenic rim, a protean landscape of tropical rain forest, temperate farmland and volcanic mountains.

The people of the scenic rim are true protean people. They are wet and dry, lush and hard, interesting and elite, average and unusual. I am one of them, or all of them at the same time.
